Income Insurance brings back drive-in dates with comedy show for EV owners

Income Insurance has brought back drive-in dates as part of its latest campaign. In a move to raise awareness of electric vehicles (EV) adoption, Income Insurance hosted an EV-only drive-in comedy show featuring comedians Fadzri Rashid and Eugene Soh.

The 70-minute show shone a light on everyday life in Singapore as well as driving habits and common misconceptions about EVs with true blue Singaporean attitude and quirkiness.

Fadzri, formerly known as Fakkah Fuzz, is a Singaporean stand-up comedian whose decade of experience includes Netflix specials Almost Banned and Too Real as well as his latest YouTube special, So, How?, which premiered on February 8 this year.

Soh, on the other hand, has performed on stages around the world, bringing authenticity, charm and a healthy dose of humour to every set as a standout comedian to watch in Singapore’s growing comedy scene.

The comedy show also comes as Singapore moves towards achieving 100% cleaner energy vehicles by 2040.

"We're using comedy as a perfect vehicle to highlight the main points that EV car owners feel in today's market. They feel that EV car owners have to buy regular insurance, it's almost a joke given how different the two are," said Dhiren Amin, chief customer officer at Income Insurance.

"That's why we're using comedy as a vehicle to highlight this. As Singapore transitions to cleaner energy vehicles, we are hoping to compliment this transition by providing for the insurance needs of EV owners," he added.

In addition, the drive-in comedy show is an extension from the brand's "Between two chargers" campaign in January this year. The campaign, featured both the comedians in an advertisement to promote the company's new eDrivo car insurance coverage.

Created in collaboration with BBH Singapore, the ad sees Fakkah Fuzz and Soh discuss the new eDrivo car insurance and the perks it brings to EV drivers in a sprawling field. This includes emergency mobile rescue if the battery charge runs out while on the road and unlimited battery replacement in case of an accident amongst others.

“Insurance campaigns don’t always have to be serious. We took on a refreshing approach centered around comedy, with punch lines and 'mic drop' moments that are refreshing to cut above the noise – to deliver a reality check to EV owners with regular car insurance and show them why eDrivo is the better choice," said Amin at the time.
