HSBC Singapore has appointed Henry Tong as head of customer, international and marketing, effective 19 October 2026, as the bank looks to strengthen its customer propositions and grow its international wealth business.
Tong joins from Citi, where he most recently served as managing director and head of wealth continuum, Asia South Wealth. He brings more than 35 years of experience across wealth management, international banking, sales leadership and business development.
In his new role, Tong will lead customer proposition, customer experience, and integrated brand and marketing priorities for HSBC's International Wealth and Premier Banking business in Singapore.

His remit includes strengthening customer propositions, deepening relationships and supporting the growth of the bank's international wealth franchise.
Ashmita Acharya, head of international wealth and premier banking at HSBC Singapore, said Tong's experience in developing cross-border and customer-centric propositions would strengthen the bank's ability to serve customers with increasingly international needs.
"As our customers become increasingly international in their outlook, the ability to seamlessly connect them with opportunities and solutions across markets remains a key priority. Tong's extensive experience will further strengthen how we serve the evolving international wealth needs of our customers in Singapore," said Acharya.
The appointment comes as HSBC continues to invest in Singapore as a key wealth hub. The bank has doubled its technology spend over five years and increased investment in its physical network fivefold, opening four new Wealth Centres since 2024.
It has also announced plans to hire more than 100 AI specialists to establish a Global AI Centre of Excellence in Singapore, alongside plans to recruit 100 additional relationship managers.
The appointment comes amid wider leadership movements across Singapore's banking sector. Earlier this year, UOB Bank appointed Marcus Chew as managing director, group retail marketing, following his departure from Lazada Group, where he served as group chief marketing officer overseeing marketing strategy across Southeast Asia and South Asia.
Separately, in April, Sameer Gupta stepped down as group chief analytics officer at DBS Bank after 12 years, during which he helped shape the bank's data and AI transformation efforts.
