Following last year's “100% DORAEMON & FRIENDS” exhibition, creative brand AllRightsReserved (ARR) is reportedly bringing a giant inflatable Doraemon to Tsing Yi shipyard as part of a cross-cultural tourism festival.

The cross-cultural tourism festival and a large-scale Victoria Harbour project will take place this autumn, featuring Doraemon as a key intellectual property (IP) character, with an announcement to be made soon, according to HK01.

The project aims to create an extraordinary experience that blends art, entertainment, and culture for both residents and tourists, allowing them to witness a "world's first" annual event, according to the report.

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to ARR for more information.

On Tuesday, a number of netizens posted photos on social media platforms such as Threads and Facebook, claiming to have discovered a large inflatable Doraemon figure at the Tsing Yi shipyard. In the images, Doraemon is lying face down on an “honest red bean bun” (誠實豆沙包), smiling while facing forward, accompanied by a small red mini-Dora.

Furthermore, netizens expressed their excitement on Threads, MARKETING-INTERACTIVE confirmed. While some users expressed eagerness to visit and take photos with the figure, others showed curiosity about the project's details.

Back in July last year, ARR partnered with Doraemon's parent company Fujiko Pro to bring the large-scale exhibition "100% Doraemon & FRIENDS" to the city,  following the launch of 100 Doraemon sculptures outside Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui back in 2012. It included the world's tallest 12-meter Doraemon inflatable sculpture at Avenue of Stars and Tsim Sha Tsui Harbourfront.

As part of the tease of the initiative, ARR launched the world’s first Doraemon drone show over Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour, where over 1,000 drones took flight to display images of characters from the popular manga series, including Doraemon, anywhere door (隨意門) and take-copter (竹蜻蜓). The 15-minute show also featured voiceovers by local voice actors.

Moreover, ARR also partnered with Ngong Ping 360 to launch a flash mob featuring a Doraemon “human mosaic” composed of 1,500 people and a campaign to promote the exhibition.
