HK taps Jessica Hsuan to highlight infrastructure achievements

The Development Bureau and the Construction Industry Council have jointly launched a territory-wide promotional campaign to enhance public understanding of Hong Kong’s infrastructure achievements.

The campaign comes amid the IMD world competitiveness yearbook 2025 results, which show that Hong Kong’s global ranking in the “infrastructure” category has risen to seventh place - an achievement the Development Bureau and the CIC believe reflects international recognition of the city’s infrastructure development.

Also known as “Hong Kong Infrastructure no. 1,” the campaign aims to present, in a comprehensive way, the diverse aspects and capabilities of Hong Kong’s infrastructure development, while encouraging continued engagement from both the public and the industry. It also looks ahead to upcoming projects and their role in improving connectivity, urban efficiency and quality of life, underscoring the contribution of the construction industry to the city’s continued development.

Through multi-platform initiatives, the campaign highlights Hong Kong’s infrastructure capabilities in terms of technology, scale and operational efficiency, as well as the role infrastructure plays in supporting daily life and future development.

One key initiative under the campaign is the short video series “Infraround with Jessica,” hosted by local actress Jessica Hsuan. The six-episode series features infrastructure facilities closely linked to daily life and showcases different aspects of Hong Kong’s infrastructure. In each episode, Hsuan takes on hands-on tasks to better understand the projects’ distinctive features and technical elements. She also reveals new scenic photo spots, encouraging viewers to follow her journey and discover the technologies behind the “no. 1” recognition.

In the first episode, Hsuan and local actor Louis Cheung conducted a test drive on the Central Kowloon Bypass (Yau Ma Tei section), which was opened at the end of 2025. The second episode features aerial footage captured using first person view drone technology, featuring the Tsing Ma Bridge, the Tseung Kwan O Cross Bay Link and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The programme also offers aerial views of the H-shaped towers of the Tsing Ma Bridge and provides a comprehensive overview of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the world’s longest bridge-tunnel sea crossing, and its ingenious “Chinese knot” design motif.

The video series will continue to release new episodes, introducing Hong Kong’s major infrastructure projects from different perspectives and outlining the development stories behind them.

In addition, the campaign includes several related initiatives. A dedicated “Hong Kong infrastructure no. 1” website has been launched, providing in-depth information on infrastructure projects, along with schedules for international conferences and industry events, offering the public and professionals a single platform for updates.

Another key initiative, the “Hong Kong Infrastructure Roving Exhibition,” starts on 7 April. It will feature Hong Kong’s first interactive infrastructure map with STEAM elements to help the public better understand infrastructure development.
