Hemalatha Ragavan marks return to Etika as CEO

Etika has announced the appointment of Hemalatha Ragavan as its new CEO of Etika and international exports, effective 1 May 2026.

According to an official announcement on the company’s LinkedIn page, Ragavan brings more than 22 years of leadership experience within the Etika ecosystem. “In her new role, she will continue strengthening regional collaboration across markets while advancing Etika’s position as a leading Southeast Asia Halal platform,” the post read.

The company added that it looks forward to the continued impact of her leadership in shaping the next phase of Etika’s regional growth.

Ragavan most recently served as CEO of Southeast Asia at Asahi Holdings Southeast Asia, a role she held for about a year since April 2025.

Prior to that, she held multiple leadership roles within Etika, including CEO of the Philippines, as well as head of international business development and export. She has been with the company since 1994.

Her appointment follows the resignation of Santharuban Thurai Sundaram as CEO overseeing Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei and exports. He served his notice until March 2026.

Santharuban spent a total of 15 years with Etika across three separate stints. He first joined the company in 2007 as a brand manager, later rising to senior brand manager before leaving for roles at New Straits Times Press and Celcom Axiata.

He returned to Etika in 2013 as group marketing manager and went on to become senior vice president of marketing and alternate business, before leaving again in 2019. After a period as CEO of Atlas Vending, he rejoined the group in 2022 as CEO overseeing Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei.
