Great Eastern Holdings’ head of group corporate communications and corporate social responsibility Pamela Pung (pictured) has stepped down from her role after about a year in the position.
Speaking to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Pung said the decision came after a period of reflection and marked the start of a new chapter following a 30-year career spanning corporate communications, public affairs and strategic leadership roles across multinational organisations.
“I felt it was the right time to move on and explore the next phase of my professional journey,” she said.

“Great Eastern was an important chapter for me, particularly as it gave me the opportunity to contribute to the transformation and strengthening of the Group Corporate Communications function during a significant period for the organisation,” she added.
During her tenure, Pung led the group corporate communications and CSR function through what she described as a significant phase of organisational transformation. One of her key priorities was repositioning communications as a more strategic business partner across reputation management, leadership visibility, internal communications, CSR and stakeholder engagement.
She also strengthened the communications team structure, expanded strategic responsibilities across corporate reputation and leadership communications, and worked on enhancing the organisation’s digital and thought leadership presence.
Reflecting on her time at Great Eastern, Pung said one of the most meaningful outcomes was helping elevate the strategic role of communications within the organisation.
“During my tenure, we undertook a comprehensive review of the function, strengthened team structure and clarity of roles, elevated leadership and corporate narratives externally, and supported the communication of the Group’s strategic priorities across multiple stakeholders,” she said.
She added that she was particularly proud of the work done in strengthening leadership engagement, enhancing LinkedIn visibility, deepening media relationships and navigating complex reputational issues.
“I hope to be remembered as someone who helped elevate the strategic role of communications within the organisation, while building a capable and committed team with a clear sense of purpose,” she added.
“Beyond campaigns and announcements, I believe good corporate communications helps organisations navigate change, build trust with stakeholders and bring clarity during complex moments.”
Prior to joining Great Eastern in 2025, Pung was communications and public affairs director, APAC at FMC Corporation, where she spent nearly seven years building the regional communications function. She established a seven-member team supporting markets across India, North Asia, ASEAN and Oceania, and developed internal and external communications strategies that significantly improved employee engagement and regional brand visibility.
She also held senior corporate affairs roles at Neptune Orient Lines between 2011 and 2018, and earlier worked at Maersk Group as general manager of group communications for APAC, where she managed crisis communications and government relations, including during maritime incidents in the region. Before that, she held a communications role at NTUC FairPrice.
Looking ahead, Pung said she is taking time to reflect before deciding on her next move, though she expects her future work will continue to involve strategic communications, leadership and organisational transformation.
“I remain passionate about strategic communications, leadership, executive presence and organisational transformation, so I expect my future work will likely continue to involve some combination of these areas,” she said.
The move follows Great Eastern's recent appointment of Venkat Raghavan as its group head of digital marketing and platforms, a newly created role at the group level. In this position, Raghavan leads efforts to build connected, well-governed and scalable digital platforms aimed at enabling consistent, data-led engagement across customer and distributor touchpoints.
He works closely with group marketing, group IT, group products and propositions, group data and AI, and distribution leadership, in partnership with local market teams, to strengthen advisory effectiveness, improve service outcomes and support sustainable growth across Great Eastern’s markets.
