Corsa celebrates Indonesia's 'proud legacy' through everyday acts of gotong royong

Corsa Indonesia is marking the country’s 81st Independence Day with a new digital campaign that puts the spotlight on an everyday expression of Indonesian identity: gotong royong, or the spirit of togetherness and solidarity.

Titled “Warisan yang membanggakan” (“The proud legacy”), the campaign from Michelin Indonesia positions Indonesia’s greatest legacy not simply as the history passed down through generations, but as the collective spirit Indonesians continue to practise in daily life.

The campaign’s digital film moves the focus from traditional symbols of national heritage to the roads, where small acts of solidarity take place between riders every day.

These include a rider helping push a stranger’s broken motorbike, motorists making way for an ambulance and one rider tapping another’s shoulder to point out a forgotten kickstand.

Through these moments, Corsa frames the road as a reflection of Indonesia itself - unpredictable and challenging, but sustained by people looking out for one another.

The brand connects this everyday resilience to its own product positioning, noting that Corsa, which focuses on tyre performance and toughness, sees the resilience of Indonesian riders up close.

Rather than presenting Independence Day solely as a celebration of the past, the campaign uses the daily commute to suggest that national identity is also shaped by the behaviours Indonesians carry forward. “After 81 years, the roads may change. The spirit stays,” Corsa stated.

The campaign was developed by creative agency Lup Jakarta and produced by Flow Studio. The creative team was led by executive creative director Albert Chan, business director Ahmad Syakbani, account director Ika N Wulan and creative director Irfan Zayanto.

The film forms the core of the two-week digital campaign.
