CommBank is backing Australian football like never before in a landmark six-year deal with Football Australia.
The agreement will see CommBank expand its support to every level of the game - from grassroots and youth development to elite squads - making it the largest supporter of football in Australia’s history.
Already naming rights partner of the CommBank Matildas, the ParaMatildas and the Pararoos, CommBank will now also sponsor the Socceroos and the country’s premier youth tournaments, including the Emerging Matildas and Emerging Socceroos Championships.
The commitment runs until 2031, extending what will become a decade-long alignment between the bank and Australia’s most played team sport.
CommBank CEO Matt Comyn said the new deal came at a pivotal moment for the sport.
“With the Socceroos facing the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 and the CommBank Matildas preparing for the AFC Women’s Asia Cup on home soil, there has never been a more exciting time to be a fan of football in Australia,” he said.
“This six-year extension, combined with our previous four years, will result in a 10-year partnership. We hope this long-term commitment will help drive positive and lasting change for the game, players and communities.”
Since CommBank’s original partnership began in 2021, women’s and girls’ football participation has risen by 27%, while CommBank Matildas matches have seen 17 consecutive sell-outs from 2023 to 2024. Through the bank’s grassroots fund, more than 230 community clubs have received grants.
Football Australia interim CEO Heather Garriock said the deal was more than a commercial sponsorship.
“This is so much more than a sponsorship agreement – it is a values-aligned business partnership,” she said. “CommBank have been incredible partners since 2021. In that time, we’ve taken the women’s and para games from strength to strength, and we cannot wait to extend this success into other programs.”
The agreement will see CommBank support Football Australia across all national teams, youth championships, and talent development initiatives, aiming to build stronger pathways and ensure wider access to the game for all Australians.
