ChatGPT Go subscription plan lands in Malaysia and Philippines

ChatGPT Go subscription plan lands in Malaysia and Philippines

OpenAI has expanded its ChatGPT Go subscription plan to Malaysia and the Philippines, giving users in both countries greater access to advanced AI capabilities at a more affordable price. In Malaysia, ChatGPT Go is priced at RM38.99 per month, while in the Philippines it costs ₱300 per month. The plan provides higher message limits, increased image generations, file uploads, and extended memory, all powered by GPT-5, OpenAI’s most advanced AI model.

The launch comes amid strong adoption of OpenAI’s tools in both countries. Weekly active ChatGPT users in Malaysia have grown more than 2.5x over the past year, while the Philippines ranks among the top five countries for weekly active users in Asia, reflecting growing interest in AI for everyday tasks. The subscription is designed to make ChatGPT easier to use for a range of daily needs, from tutoring, personal writing, editing, and creative ideation to “how to” advice.

Compared to the free plan, ChatGPT Go offers ten times higher message limits with GPT-5, ten times more image generations per day, ten times more file or image uploads, and twice the memory for more personalised responses. It sits alongside OpenAI’s other subscription options, including ChatGPT Plus (RM99.90/month in Malaysia, ₱1,100/month in the Philippines) and ChatGPT Pro (RM999.90/month, ₱9,990/month), offering users different tiers depending on their usage and needs.

“Millions of people across Malaysia and the Philippines are turning to ChatGPT to support their learning, creativity, and everyday problem-solving,” said Nick Turley, vice president and head of ChatGPT. “With ChatGPT Go, we want to make cutting-edge AI easily accessible and affordable so everyone can benefit from it.”

The rollout follows strong uptake in India, where the ChatGPT Go subscription more than doubled its paid user base within a month of launch. The expansion to Malaysia and the Philippines forms part of OpenAI’s broader effort to make AI tools accessible across Asia, providing practical support for education, creativity, and everyday problem-solving in the region. Users in both countries can sign up via the ChatGPT web platform or mobile apps, with in-app payments supported through the Play Store and App Store.

Last month, OpenAI introduced ChatGPT Go in Indonesia, marking the country as one of the first two markets worldwide to access the new low-cost subscription plan. At IDR 75,000 (US$4.5) per month, the service is designed to offer broader access to the platform’s most popular AI tools at an affordable price point.

ChatGPT Go includes all features from the free plan, alongside extended access to GPT-5, image generation, file uploads, and advanced data analysis. Subscribers also gain longer memory for more personalised interactions, as well as access to projects, tasks, and the ability to create and edit custom GPTs.
