Cathay Cargo partners with MasterChef Asia for culinary challenge

Cathay Cargo has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery for a special challenge featured in episode two of the new reality competition series MasterChef Asia.
Set against the backdrop of Macao - a UNESCO creative city of gastronomy - the challenge begins with a dramatic reveal: a giant cargo box holding ten individual ingredient boxes, each tailored to a contestant’s personal heritage. As the culinary contenders uncover their ingredients and the personal stories behind them, they are tasked with transforming familiar home flavors into dishes worthy of the MasterChef Asia kitchen.
The activation was built on a simple premise: every ingredient has a place of origin, and every dish tells a story of where it comes from. This provided a natural creative link to Cathay Cargo’s brand purpose of connecting people, businesses, and communities around the world. Creative agency Leo Hong Kong brought both brands together and led the campaign coordination.
"Our role was to bring Cathay Cargo and MasterChef Asia together and turn a shared ambition into a challenge that audiences could experience. By placing the ingredients at the heart of the competition, we created an engaging platform that celebrates how food can connect cultures," Kenneth Poon, director of client services, Leo Hong Kong.
Cathay Cargo operates a global network spanning more than 100 destinations, supported by five-hour air connectivity across Asia via its Hong Kong hub. Utilizing its specialised "Cathay Fresh" solution, the air cargo carrier provides expedited handling and end-to-end cold-chain assurance for temperature-sensitive shipments, preserving perishable quality from origin to destination.
In Hong Kong, this transport capability extends into the Greater Bay Area (GBA) through Cathay Cargo’s intermodal air-land network. Upon flight arrival, perishables can be transferred directly to temperature-controlled trucks for onward delivery across the region, linking global suppliers with GBA destinations through an integrated logistics ecosystem.
Viewers can stream episode two of MasterChef Asia on HBO Max, with challenge highlights featured across Cathay Cargo and MasterChef Asia social channels starting 2 October.
"At Cathay Cargo, we connect people, businesses and communities through the movement of goods around the world. Every fresh ingredient has a story that begins at its place of origin and travels through a complex supply chain before reaching the table. Through our Greater Bay Area airland intermodal network and Cathay Fresh solution, we help connect producers and markets across the region and beyond. We are delighted to partner with MasterChef Asia to celebrate how food transcends borders, brings cultures together and creates meaningful connections between people," said Ricardo Lo, head of marketing, Cathay Cargo.
