Bigo Live spreads good with community efforts in Indonesia

Social livestreaming platform Bigo Live is on a journey to build an online and offline community. The platform aims to bring communities together and spread positivity online and offline through local events, activities and initiatives.
Recently, it hosted a 'Bigo Live for Good' Ramadan charity event to actively support Indonesians from all walks of life. As part of the charity event, over IDR100 million was given to Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia, a foundation dedicated to supporting children battling cancer and Panti Asuhan Annajah, a children's orphanage. Bigo Live also distributed hampers worth IDR19.4 million.
Through these ongoing partnerships, Bigo Live hopes to raise awareness and provide critical resources, according to a statement seen by MARKETING-INTERACTIVE.

In tandem, Bigo Live has committed to supporting Indonesia's Bigo community. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the livestreaming app provided entertainment, community and an alternative income for Indonesians.
Several initiatives were also launched including informative Q&A sessions with healthcare professionals and collaborations with local DJs such as Dinar Candy and Omo Kucrut to host virtual clubbing sessions. Both these efforts aimed to reduce stress and increase support during isolation.
In addition, Bigo Live ran a global fundraiser for the World Health Organisation's (WHO) COVID-19 solidarity response fund. The platform gave Indonesian broadcasters and users an opportunity to contribute to the campaign through 'Global BIGOer One World Together' 24-hour livestream where over 100 talented singers and musicians from 20 countries performed.
The fundraiser raised US$100,000 in donations and saw more than 3.7 million viewers participating in it.
Bigo Live's efforts go beyond Indonesia too. In April 2023, Bigo Live Philippines collaborated with global cosmetics brand MAC Cosmetics to launch a brand new talent search competition "Slay Model Search Asia", in an effort to promote inclusivity and celebrate the transgender community.
Held in collaboration with international model management agency, Slay Model Management, the talent competition sought to scout and present the best of the Asia's transgender fashion talents.
As part of the campaign, "Slay Model Search" featured a diverse group of contestants from the Philippines and across Southeast Asia throughout the month.
The contestants of "Slay Model Search Asia" appeared on Bigo Live with the host Nicole Ramos Cando, a singer and actress. Utilising the platform's multi-guest room feature, they held mini-talk shows from 17 until 21 April, and gave Bigo Live users an intimate opportunity to interact with and learn more about them.
