Retail today isn’t just about what people buy – it’s about how they live, connect and spend their time, and AEON is once again setting the pace for how retail can shape communities.

The brand recently broke ground on a new four-storey extension of AEON Mall Seremban 2, marking a major milestone in its journey to modernise Malaysia’s retail landscape and elevate community living in Negeri Sembilan.

The groundbreaking ceremony was officiated by Aminuddin Harun, the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, together with Iskandar Sarudin, chairman of AEON, and Naoya Okada, managing director of AEON, reflecting the strategic importance of this expansion for both state development and community growth.

Situated on a 23.04-acre site, opposite the existing mall, the new extension will be connected via an overhead pedestrian bridge for seamless access. When completed in 2027, the combined development will boast over 700,000 square feet of net lettable area, positioning it as the largest mall in Seremban.

But for AEON, this expansion is about more than just scale – it’s about purpose.

“This project is more than a physical expansion, it’s an evolution of how we connect with our customers,” Okada said.

“We want to create spaces that bring people together, offer greater convenience and choice, and contribute positively to the local economy through job creation and business opportunities.”

Since opening in 2005, AEON Mall Seremban 2 has been a beloved fixture in the city’s landscape, a place where families gather, friends meet, and the local community thrives. With Seremban’s rapid growth and rising demand for lifestyle experiences, AEON’s investment signals its continued commitment to enhancing everyday life through thoughtful retail development.

The expansion also underscores AEON’s ongoing transformation journey, as the brand evolves from a traditional retailer into a lifestyle-driven ecosystem. Over the past year, AEON has continued to strengthen its nationwide presence. From opening new stores such as AEON Setia Alam, AEON Wellness and DAISO at Bloomsvale Shopping Gallery, to upgrading AEON MaxValu in Desa Parkcity and AEON Bandar Puchong for an enhanced shopping experience.

Earlier this year, AEON Mall Ipoh Station 18 reopened with a refreshed look and reimagined spaces that better reflect modern consumer expectations. Revitalisation plans are also underway at several flagship locations, including AEON Mall Shah Alam, AEON Mall Bukit Indah, AEON Mall Bandaraya Melaka, and AEON Mall Kinta City.

With every upgrade, AEON is redefining what its malls stand for. Not just as retail destinations, but as spaces where people can connect, unwind, and belong.

The expansion of AEON Mall Seremban 2 is more than a construction milestone. It’s a reflection of AEON’s belief that the future of retail lies in building experiences, and spaces where community, convenience, and connection come together in meaningful ways.

With a mission to enrich lives and communities, AEON continues to evolve as one of Malaysia’s most trusted lifestyle brands. Guided by its “customer first” philosophy, it strives to create spaces that inspire Malaysians to live well, shop smart, and stay connected – wherever life takes them.

Sustainability is at the heart of everything AEON does. From promoting environmentally responsible operations to nurturing social wellbeing and supporting local economies, its initiatives reflect a long-term commitment to building a better and more balanced future for the people, the planet, and the communities it serves.
