Steve Dailisan (pictured), head of communications and corporate affairs and Airbus A320 pilot at AirAsia Philippines, has announced his departure from the airline after five years, marking the end of a unique chapter in his career that bridged aviation and corporate communications.
“I left AirAsia both as a pilot and as head of communications and corporate affairs,” Dailisan told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE. “First and foremost, I am deeply grateful for all the learnings I gained during my time with AirAsia. It was truly a rollercoaster journey - one that began at the height of the pandemic - and a rare opportunity that allowed me to unite my first love, communications and corporate affairs, with my passion for flying.”
He reflected on the lessons gleaned from the dual perspective of management and operations. “This unique experience gave me clearer perspective and a deeper appreciation of both management decision-making and the operational realities on the ground, especially when seen through the lens of a pilot,” Dailisan said.

During his tenure, Dailisan led AirAsia Philippines to notable recognition in the communications arena. A seasoned professional, he has nearly two decades of experience in broadcast journalism and communications, including a decorated career with GMA Network, before joining AirAsia in 2020.
“The true test of any communications professional comes during moments of crisis. Navigating concerns with sincerity, empathy, and clarity - both internally and externally, especially for our guests - was an eye-opening and defining experience for me,” he said.
Dailisan also praised his team and the airline’s corporate social responsibility efforts. “Five years felt more like ten, if not fifteen, but we were able to weather these challenges because of the exceptional communications and corporate affairs team. They work smart, lead with heart, and consistently rise to the occasion. I will continue to root for them wherever my journey takes me.”
He highlighted initiatives under the AlwaysReady campaign, including partnerships with Operation Smile Philippines and Liter of Light, which provided life-changing cleft surgeries and electricity access to communities in need, respectively. “These efforts reminded me that beyond flights and campaigns, our work has the power to change lives,” Dailisan said.
He extended his gratitude to AirAsia leaders, naming group CEO Bo Lingam and former AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla for their guidance, and credited founder Tony Fernandes as a constant source of inspiration.
