Malaysia bottled water manufacturer Spritzer has appointed Universal McCann (UM) as its media agency.

UM's remit will encompass all media duties including strategy, planning, buying, research, as well as data and analytics for the brand. 

UM was picked for its exceptional creative thinking and innovation, said Spritzer head of marketing Shiao Chan. "They understood the task at hand, and demonstrated a keen understanding of our brand to develop a strong strategy that clearly demonstrates growth and business impact," said Chan.

"This left and right brain thinking on how media and creative comes together, hand in glove, is what we were looking for. We look forward to building on this collaboration to help us propel our brand into its next chapter of growth," she added. 

Meanwhile, Sue-Anne Lim, CEO of UM said that the bottled water manufacturer is a trailblazer in the industry, noting its strong commitment to innovation, sustainability and delivering delicious hydration solutions.

"Likewise, UM has always been at the forefront of where opposites meet – analytics and creativity, data and content, science and art – able to deliver with a full spectrum of services in between. We are excited to marry our expertise to support Spritzer as a brand leader in this market and have great things in mind for this partnership," added Lim. 

The appointment commences in February 2025. 

Previously, Spritzer appointed Trapper as its media agency in 2021. Trapper was responsible for all Spritzer brands including Tinge, So Tinge!, Sparkling, and Acilis. At the time, the brand was looking to strengthen its market leadership and drive new segments for business groewth. 

Separately, the brand appointed Kingdom Digital to overlook its social media in 2021. 

Most recently, Spritzer unveiled a heartwarming Chinese New Year campaign to inspire Malaysians to embrace tradition during the festive season, as well as to highlight the importance of open-hearted conversations between family and friends. 

The campaign featured a short film titled "Speak from the heart" and tells the story of a young man named Jasper, a 30-year-old who is feeling to pressure from his family to settle down. The film starred actors and brand ambassadors, Koe Yeet and Jaspers Lai, with special appearances by Lai's web persona Yagood and TikToker Joseph Lee (Jobroseph).
