SAP has appointed Ellian Teo (pictured) as managing director for Malaysia, tasking the technology executive with leading the company's strategy, operations and customer success across the market.
In the role, Teo will oversee SAP Malaysia's efforts to help businesses accelerate digital transformation, strengthen business resilience and drive greater adoption of cloud, data and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. She will report to Liher Urbizu, president and managing director of SAP Southeast Asia. Teo succeeds Vipin Chandran, who has relocated to Singapore with SAP.
She joins SAP from Microsoft, where she most recently served as enterprise commercial leader. Prior to that, she held leadership roles at Oracle, IBM and Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific, bringing more than two decades of experience in the enterprise technology sector.

Over the course of her career, Teo has worked with organisations across financial services, telecommunications, manufacturing, government-linked companies and large Malaysian enterprises.
She has also collaborated with boards, C-suite executives, regulators, policymakers and technology ecosystem partners on large-scale digital transformation programmes.
Beyond her corporate responsibilities, Teo is also involved in initiatives supporting women in leadership and technology. Through her work with the 30% Club community and other women-in-technology programmes, she advocates for greater female representation in senior leadership while mentoring women pursuing careers in cloud, data and AI.
“Malaysia continues to be an important market for SAP, with organisations across industries focused on modernising their operations and adopting AI responsibly to deliver tangible business outcomes. Teo brings deep enterprise technology experience, strong customer relationships and a clear focus on people, partnerships and execution.” said Urbizu.
He added, “I am confident she will build on the strong foundations laid by her predecessor and will play an important role in supporting our customers and partners in Malaysia as they move from intelligence to impact and accelerate their transformation and AI journeys.”
Commenting on her appointment, Teo said, “SAP is uniquely positioned at the intersection of business transformation, data and AI, and we have a strong opportunity to help organisations rethink how they operate, innovate and grow.
"My focus will be on deepening customer trust, empowering our people, strengthening our ecosystem partnerships and helping Malaysian organisations realise tangible business value from digital and AI transformation," she added.
The appointment follows a series of leadership changes at SAP as the company strengthens its presence across Southeast Asia amid growing demand for cloud and AI solutions.
Earlier this year, SAP named Saket Ranjan as head of corporate for Southeast Asia, where he is responsible for leading the company's corporate business across the region, supporting upper mid-market and large enterprise customers in accelerating digital transformation and AI adoption.
At the same time, SAP also appointed Sianto Wongjoyo as managing director for Indonesia to oversee the company's strategy, operations and customer success in the market, reinforcing Indonesia's role in SAP's regional growth ambitions.
