Pos Malaysia has marked World Post Day 2026 by launching a special stamp and showcasing what it says is Malaysia’s first electric three-wheeler for last-mile delivery.

The electric three-wheeler is designed to improve safety, increase parcel-carrying capacity and support zero-tailpipe-emission deliveries in dense urban areas. Pos Malaysia plans to deploy the vehicles progressively within its last-mile operations, pending regulatory approvals.

Held under the theme “One postal network, infinite possibilities”, the celebration was officiated by communications minister Fahmi Fadzil and Imri Mokhtar, board member of Pos Malaysia. The programme also featured The Wira Award 2026 and the prize presentation for the KESEF 2026 Stamp Folio Competition.

This new three-wheeler initiative joins the postal service’s existing fleet of electric vans and motorcycles. Pos Malaysia says one in every three of its parcels is now delivered using an electric vehicle.

“While our heritage spans more than 200 years, our focus is firmly on the future. From digital solutions and expanded logistics capabilities to sustainable delivery innovations such as electric vehicles, we are continuously transforming how we serve Malaysians,” said Imri.

On the philately side, the World Post Day 2026 stamp was inspired by the theme and celebrates the strength of a connected postal network.

The stamp issue comprises the stamp, a first day cover with stamp and a folder. The full collection is available from 9 October at 90 philatelic bureaus nationwide, including 13 general post offices, as well as selected post offices and the Pos Malaysia online store, while stocks last.

The company also used the occasion to highlight its performance. Pos Malaysia said its next-day parcel delivery rate now exceeds 92%, above the industry average of 82%, while mail on-time delivery has improved to 95%. Reliability as tracked by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission has reached 91%.

Pos Malaysia added that it remains the only logistics provider operating two dedicated aircraft serving Sabah and Sarawak. It said it is transforming into a parcel-led, digitally enabled logistics and services group, with last-mile reach of more than 11 million addresses.

This comes just as the government has announced during the Malaysian budget an allocation of RM150 million to activate the Postal Service Fund to support postal services nationwide, particularly in rural and remote areas.

Pos Malaysia has also been ramping up its use of stamps as storytelling tools. In June, it launched a collectible stamp series for Visit Malaysia 2026. That month, it also launched “Parrots of Malaysia”, a commemorative stamp issue that spotlights the country’s protected parrot species.

Came August, the postal service also partnered with Malaysian design brand APOM on “A tapestry of Malaysia”, a Malaysia Day collection of 14 stamp designs inspired by Malaysia’s 13 states and the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.
