MTR celebrates Bruce Lee's legacy with themed exhibition

In commemoration of the 85th birthday of martial arts icon Bruce Lee, MTR Corporation has launched a themed exhibition that offers visitors a multi-sensory, immersive journey through his life.

Also known as "The formless way: Memorialising 85 years since Bruce Lee’s birth" (李小龍誕生 85 周年紀念展:無形之道), the exhibition is presented in collaboration with the Bruce Lee Foundation and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum.

Through four themes—films, martial arts, philosophy, and art—visitors are invited to explore the “way” that Lee left behind, embracing equality, respect, and inclusivity as integral practices. The exhibition aims to encourage reflection on how this martial arts legend transcended boundaries, connected worlds, and continues to inspire generations.

Composed of two zones, the exhibition is a joint showcase at Hong Kong Station’s Living Art Stage from 25 November to 8 December 2025, and at Central Station’s ArtTube at Exit J, starting on 25 November 2025 and continuing till summer 2026.

The exhibition at Hong Kong Station’s Living Art Stage features dynamic installations and immersive interactive experiences that feature Lee’s signature moves and philosophical insights, inviting the public to engage in a cross-time spiritual dialogue with the legendary icon.

Meanwhile, the exhibition at Central Station’s ArtTube, displays an extensive collection of rare photographs, film stills, posters, and martial arts philosophy, offering an in-depth exploration of Lee’s growth trajectory and life as an artist, while highlighting his profound connection with the city in the exhibition chapter themed “Travelling by MTR: Connecting Bruce Lee’s footprints across Hong Kong” (穿梭港鐵:串連李小龍的香港足跡).

The exhibition’s art partner, the Hong Kong Dance Company, also presented a showcase of the grand dance drama titled "Kung fu artistry – No way as way" (道) at the opening ceremony, interpreting Lee’s martial arts philosophy and artistic spirit through dance and movement. Additionally, limited “Bruce Lee’s quote cards” will be distributed at the Hong Kong Station "Living Art Stage" interactive experiential zone. There are four designs, and the cards will be distributed at random while supplies last.

To further incorporate Lee’s philosophies into everyday life, the public can download Bruce Lee-themed mobile Octopus covers from the "Octopus card image store" in the Octopus app.

“Lee is an internationally acclaimed figure who introduced Chinese martial arts to the world. His martial arts philosophy transcended traditional boundaries and embodied a revolutionary way of thinking about martial arts. This spirit resonates with MTR’s commitment of agility, efficiency, and continuous innovation amid the rhythm of city life,” said Jacob Kam, chief executive officer of MTR Corporation.

“By showcasing Lee’s precious collections at MTR Hong Kong and Central stations, we aim to create an inspiring cultural space amid the urban hustle through an interactive artistic experience. We invite passengers to embark on this cultural journey and draw inspiration from Lee’s philosophical wisdom toward achieving breakthroughs and innovation," he added.

"Celebrating my father’s 85th birthday in Hong Kong—the city where he grew up and achieved extraordinary success—is an incredible honour. The MTR is a vital connector of communities in Hong Kong, much like my father’s legacy, which transcends generations and cultures. This exhibition is the ideal platform to promote his spirit and philosophy, and it is my hope that the public can gain insights into his resilience and wisdom during their daily journeys as they flow throughout the city,” said Shannon Lee, founder and chairperson of the Bruce Lee Foundation and daughter of Lee.

Don’t miss: MTR taps Raymond Lam to bridge nostalgia and progress in playful campaign

Back in October, MTR Corporation launched a brand campaign, "Building the future today", blending pop culture nostalgia and storytelling to make future infrastructure more relatable to Hongkongers.

At the heart of the campaign is a playful homage to Hong Kong’s beloved TVB drama "A Step into the Past" (尋秦記), starring Raymond Lam. The singer-actor reprises his role as the “emperor” who travels through time. Not to ancient China this time, but into Hong Kong’s future, where he discovers new MTR stations and their impact on everyday commuters.
