Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has marked its 10th anniversary with community events in the Philippines and Indonesia, bringing players, creators, eSports personalities and members of its development team together as it looks to its next decade.

In the Philippines, the mobile multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game held a four-day anniversary activation at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, from 8 to 11 October. Meanwhile, its ALL IN MLBB 10th Anniversary Festival ran in Surabaya, Indonesia, from 9 to 11 October.

The activations formed part of MLBB’s global anniversary campaign, highlighting the role local communities have played in the game’s growth since its launch in 2016.

MLBB has recorded more than 1.5 billion installations globally and 110 million monthly active users. Its development has also expanded its in-game roster from 10 heroes at launch to 133, alongside 42 season updates and 24 casual game modes, according to MOONTON Games.

In the Philippines, the anniversary activation featured tournaments, creator content, talent appearances and community activities. Attendees included Mobile Legends Professional League (MPL) players Karl Gabriel “KarlTzy” Nepomuceno and Cyric “Kingkong” Perez, MPL caster Caisam “Wolf” Nopueto, content creators Shaira and Fuego Gaming, and actress and cosplayer Myrtle Sarrosa.

The event also incorporated Filipino cultural references through a performance celebrating the country’s dance traditions and #LibreNiMLBB, an activity inspired by the local custom of treating friends and loved ones to food. Fans received limited-edition anniversary merchandise and loot bags, while an anniversary parade truck travelled across key areas of Metro Manila to bring activities to communities beyond the main venue.

“For 10 years, MLBB has grown with its players, and the Philippines has been an important part of that journey. This celebration is our thank-you to the Filipino community - for the passion, creativity, and connections they have brought to MLBB. As we look ahead, we want to continue creating experiences that give players new ways to connect, compete, and make memories together,” said Jay Wang, head of publishing, Philippines, at MOONTON Games.

The game has also drawn on Filipino cultural touchpoints through its characters and brand collaborations. These include Lapu-Lapu, named after the Filipino historical figure, and Paquito, inspired by boxing champion Manny Pacquiao, as well as collaborations with the SexBomb Girls and fast-food chain Jollibee.

In Indonesia, the Surabaya festival focused on bringing players face-to-face with the developers behind the game. Activities included developer meet-ups, gameplay sessions, a gong-striking ceremony and group games such as a sarong relay.

The Indonesian community has influenced MLBB’s local identity through characters such as Gatotkaca and Kadita, which draw on Indonesian culture and stories. The game has also used community programmes, including Golden Month’s “BUKBAR Berbagi Kebaikan”, to extend its presence beyond gameplay.

“For me, every time we meet players and hear their genuine feelings about MLBB, it reminds us again of why we insist on making this game better. The 10th anniversary is not just a moment to look back on the past, but also the starting point of the next leg of the journey,” said Roger, vice president and MLBB producer at MOONTON Games.

The anniversary celebrations come as MLBB continues to expand its international eSports presence. In 2026, its competitive ecosystem has featured on international stages including the Asian Games, while the Mid Season Cup made its European debut at the Esports World Cup in Paris. The game is also building towards the M8 World Championship Finals in Istanbul.
