Michael Hill has appointed WPP agency EssenceMediacom as its media partner across Australia, New Zealand and Canada, replacing Omnicom Media Group after a five-year relationship.
The jewellery retailer is looking to bring media, commerce, data and AI capabilities together under a more connected and agile operating model as it reshapes its marketing approach across the three markets.
EssenceMediacom said the appointment reflects Michael Hill's continued investment in marketing capabilities designed to help the business respond with greater speed, precision and relevance in an increasingly competitive retail environment.
The agency will be supported by a bespoke WPP Media team, bringing together specialists under a single integrated model to help Michael Hill create more seamless customer experiences and unlock new opportunities for growth.
Michael Hill thanked Omnicom Media Group for its work over the past five years, saying the agency had played an important role in advancing its media capability and supporting the business through a period of significant transformation.
Jo Feeney, CMO at Michael Hill, said EssenceMediacom and the broader WPP team demonstrated a strong vision for bringing media, data, technology and creativity together.
“As Michael Hill continues to evolve, we’re focused on building a marketing model that is more connected, more agile and better equipped for the future,” she said.
Pippa Berlocher, CEO of EssenceMediacom Australia and New Zealand, described Michael Hill as one of the region's most respected jewellery brands.
“By bringing together the capabilities of EssenceMediacom and WPP Media’s connected offer, we’re excited to help shape the next chapter of the brand’s marketing evolution,” she said.
The appointment takes effect from 27 July.
