Prior to his time at Meta, Joe held roles at IBM and McKinsey & Company.
Mendelsohn, head of global business group at Meta said, "Joe is a strong leader with deep knowledge of our company and region, making him a natural choice to lead our business in APAC. His excellent track record in Korea and Southeast Asia is testimonial to his leadership and capability in building strong teams and helping businesses across the region grow."
Speaking on his new role, Joe said, "I am honored and grateful to serve as vice president of APAC as we look towards a future brimming with potential across the APAC region. With our talented teams, I’m excited to harness the power of AI to unlock new opportunities for growth, collaboration and impact for businesses across the region."
Following Ben's appointment, Sandhya Devanathan, VP for India, will expand her responsibilities to include Southeast Asia.
Joe's appointment comes after Neary stepped down as Meta's APAC vice president in March this year, after more than 12 years in the role. In a LinkedIn post at the time, Neary confirmed his exit, adding that he would be around for a few months to get a successor in place and ensure a smooth transition.
Neary first assumed the role in 2013 after leaving his position of vice president and GM of global market development at Skype. Prior to that he was vice president, emerging markets at eBay, chief operating officer at Vendio Services and managing partner at McRand International.
Meanwhile, Meta recently appointed Nicole Tan as its new country director for Singapore, effective 2 June 2025. Tan was previously the Meta country director for Malaysia for the past nine years.
As country director for Singapore, Tan will focus on driving digital empowerment and innovation across industries, harnessing the power of AI to unlock new opportunities for businesses, and supporting the growth of Singapore's thriving digital economy.
