Manulife and Ant Health team up for seamless patient care

Manulife and Ant Health team up for seamless patient care

Manulife Asia and AHA Healthcare Technology HK (Ant Health) have inked deals to jointly explore ways to make healthcare easier to discover, access, and afford.

The agreement sets out a framework for the two companies to explore collaboration in health management services, cross-boundary healthcare support, digital health capabilities, and insurance technology.

These areas of collaboration seek to address the often fragmented cross-boundary healthcare experience, where customers must navigate the journey on their own, make multiple enquiries, and manually coordinate different steps before, during and after treatment.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is regional in scope. Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland are the first markets to be explored; the companies intend to extend the collaboration to customers in other Asian markets over time. Under the MoU, the companies will explore new ways to strengthen the health ecosystem and better support customers throughout their health journey.

The areas of collaboration set out in the MoU include health management services for Manulife customers in Hong Kong and the Chinese mainland, such as exploring case management, concierge support, medical network and patient services. Additionally, the partnership covers insurance technology initiatives like health value-added services, design support, and cross-boundary claims and payment support. Other areas may also be explored by mutual agreement, including health insights, industry research, and standards.

Steve Finch, president and CEO of Manulife Asia, said: "This collaboration reflects a shared belief that access to healthcare should be simpler, more connected and centred around the needs of customers. By combining our respective strengths, we will explore how to create a more seamless healthcare journey for customers. At Manulife, we believe better access to healthcare is fundamental to improving long-term health outcomes and supports our goals to help customers enjoy better health and greater independence throughout their lives."

Zhang Junjie, vice president of Ant Group and head of the health business, said: "The integration of health insurance and health services has become a major trend in enhancing users' medical service experience and improving their overall health and well-being. Through this collaboration with Manulife Asia, we look forward to exploring more convenient and compassionate cross-boundary health services for customers, advancing our long-term vision of 'making healthcare simpler and lives healthier’, and contributing to the development of a 'Healthy Greater Bay Area'."

Don’t miss: Manulife HK and JUST FEEL team up to foster 'compassionate school culture'

Manulife has been initiating various collaborations to engage with the community in different ways. For example, back in April last year, Manulife Hong Kong and JUST FEEL, a Hong Kong-based NGO dedicated to emotional education, formed a multi-year strategic charity partnership. The collaboration works closely with partner schools to foster a "compassionate school culture" among students, teachers, and parents.

This collaboration aims to enhance awareness of students’ emotional well-being within schools and the broader community, and is expected to reach over 100 primary schools and 150,000 students, teachers, and parents cumulatively.
