JOLT has entered the US market after striking a deal to acquire a substantial portion of the Volta Media Network from Shell, a move that will create one of the world’s largest combined electric vehicle charging and digital out-of-home (DOOH) networks.
The acquisition adds thousands of sites across up to 34 US states giving JOLT a major US footprint alongside its existing operations in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
For advertisers, the expansion brings global scale as JOLT integrates Volta’s network into its DOOH-plus-charging model, which connects brands with consumers at high-traffic moments from retail centres to travel hubs. The combined offering will also tap into JOLT’s Spark Intelligence platform, which recently rolled out AI-powered optimisation to adjust campaigns in real time across the network.
JOLT’s global client base already includes McDonald’s, Amazon, Toyota, Target and American Express.
“Our expansion into the US marks an exciting new chapter for JOLT and is a continuation of our growth story of an Australian owned company with global ambitions,” Doug McNamee, JOLT CEO, said.
“The Volta Media Network and JOLT share the same DNA – combining EV charging with a powerful media platform – making this acquisition a natural fit. JOLT’s acquisition ensures the Volta Media Network continues to thrive, giving drivers, advertisers and landlords confidence in its future at a time when its continuation had previously been uncertain.”
The transaction is expected to close on 1 January 2026.
JOLT said the move reflects the accelerating convergence between mobility infrastructure and digital media. The company plans further expansion across major US markets in 2026, partnering with advertisers, property owners and municipalities.
The acquisition follows a period of growth for JOLT, with its charger and DOOH network expanding 92% in 2024 and new market launches across New Zealand, Canada and the UK.
