‘It’s the vibe’: Uber reunites The Castle trio to go all-in on electric

In a nostalgic nod to one of Australia’s most beloved films, Uber has reunited The Castle stars Michael Caton, Stephen Curry and Anthony Simcoe for a new campaign promoting its now fully electric Uber Green service.

It’s the first time the trio have appeared on screen together in 28 years – and this time, they’re getting behind a different kind of cause: making sustainable choices the easy choice.

Developed by creative agency Poem, the campaign plays on The Castle’s iconic Aussie humour and catchphrases to spread the word that Uber Green trips are now 100% electric – and still the same price as UberX.

The campaign launch comes as Uber phases out hybrid vehicles for Uber Green and steps up its push for sustainability, with electric rides now available in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra and the Gold Coast.

“I reckon the best thing we can do is leave the world a better place for the next generation,” Caton said. When greener choices are as easy as tapping for an Uber with no vehicle emissions, why would you do anything else?”

The campaign follows new research from Uber showing 65% of Australians choose convenience over eco-friendly options – but say they’d switch if it was as easy as ordering a coffee or picking a lipstick shade.

Emma Foley, Uber ANZ managing director, said the goal is to make sustainable travel the easy, obvious choice.

“With Uber Green now fully electric and priced the same as UberX, choosing an emissions-free ride is just a tap away.”
