The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) has invited top TikTok influencer Khaby Lame to visit Hong Kong, aiming to attract more international tourists through his unique experiences in the city.
With over 160 million followers on TikTok, Khaby Lame is known for his "speechless brother" (無語哥) persona and his signature palm-out pose.
Following Lame’s 13-day trip across 10 cities in China in September, including Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, the HKTB invited him to experience Hong Kong’s diverse lifestyle firsthand. He was encouraged to share his journey with his global followers, highlighting the city’s cultural depth and natural beauty through his social media platforms.
The HKTB arranged cultural experiences for Lame, including the Tai Hang fire dragon dance. Under the guidance of the dance director, he learned the authentic formations and techniques, and he participated in the performance, immersing himself in this traditional festive culture.
Lame also paid a visit to Tai O, where he learned how to make salted eggs and went on a small boat tour through the waterways, enjoying close-up views of the stilt houses. He also visited the Tai O Heritage Hotel to experience the unique charm of this water town in Hong Kong.
Regarding food experiences, Lame dined at a dai pai dong in Sham Shui Po, where he tried the wok-fired flavors of Hong Kong-style stir-fry. He also visited a historic five-star hotel for English afternoon tea, gaining a taste of Hong Kong's lifestyle. In the evening, he stayed at Ocean Park Fullerton Hotel in the Southern District, with views of the sea.

Additionally, the HKTB organised new experiences for Lame by bringing him to Kai Tak Sports Park, where the main stadium featured an LED display flashing the message "Hong Kong welcomes Khaby and you”. He also attended a Cantonese song party, taking on the role of DJ to experience Hong Kong's nightlife.
According to the HKTB, it has invited over 440 key opinion leaders (KOLs) to visit since 2025, amassing a combined following of over 440 million. The board has crafted a variety of themes and experiences for these KOLs, encompassing major city events, Western and Chinese art, pop culture, traditional festivals, fine dining, and outdoor exploration.
Through their content, the HKTB aims to generate positive word-of-mouth and leverage their considerable influence to attract more visitors to Hong Kong.
