Grab Indonesia has launched Grab Bintang Lima, a new feature within GrabFood designed to help users navigate the country’s vast culinary scene with ease and confidence.
With thousands of restaurants and outlets available on GrabFood, choosing where to eat can be overwhelming. Grab Bintang Lima addresses this by offering a curated guide based on millions of real user reviews and expert validation, ensuring recommendations reflect both quality and authenticity.
“From choosing the best restaurants, ordering favourite dishes, making dine-in reservations, to serving as a trusted culinary guide for Indonesians, all of this is available within a single app. This new feature is not only for users but also serves as a way for us to show appreciation to our merchant partners who consistently maintain high quality,” said Melinda Savitri, country marketing and communications head, Grab Indonesia.

Grab Bintang Lima selects merchants through a rigorous process. Only restaurants with more than 250 positive reviews and consistently high ratings qualify. Currently, over 13,500 merchants and 23,500 outlets across Indonesia have earned the five-star badge, reflecting excellence in taste, service, and operational reliability.
Adding an extra layer of credibility, the selection is further validated by legendary Indonesian culinary expert William Wongso, who emphasises that good food is defined not only by momentary taste but by consistent quality maintained over time and produced in line with capacity.
“Grab Bintang Lima combines the honest voice of consumers with professional curation standards, resulting in a trusted culinary guide. More importantly, the feature also gives SMEs the opportunity to stand on equal footing with larger restaurants. Many small eateries and stalls offer food of equally high quality and truly deserve the spotlight,” Wongso explained.
While merchants gain enhanced visibility, prestige, and strengthened customer loyalty, the feature also streamlines decision-making for consumers, saving both effort and costs.
The feature has received positive feedback from merchants, including Robby Gunawan, owner of Ayam Goreng Petojo, who shared that he felt a mix of joy and pride when learning his restaurant had been recognised as a five-star merchant on GrabFood. “Our sales had increased dramatically by around 25%,” he added.
Grab Bintang Lima reinforces Grab’s role as a lifestyle partner for modern consumers while supporting the growth of Indonesia’s culinary SMEs, offering a trusted, convenient, and AI-enhanced dining experience. It is built on Grab’s “AI-first with heart” philosophy, using AI to help users discover top restaurants, place orders, and make reservations seamlessly.
“With AI-powered support, users simply enter their desired restaurant, eatery, or cuisine into the search bar, and receive tailored recommendations, allowing foodies to enjoy a more seamless and integrated dining experience,” Savitri said.
