ghd has officially debuted its professional education and salon launch programme in Indonesia, marking a significant expansion of the UK-born styling brand’s footprint in the country. Led by John Zhang, education manager for ghd Asia, the “GHD Glam Experience” spanned four elite salons across Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya and Bali, introducing the latest Chronos series tools to both stylists and consumers.
The initiative opened on 10 November with a Train the Trainer session at ghd Indonesia’s office, attended by senior stylists from Irwan Team Hairdesign and two local educators. The workshop established a unified standard for ghd’s education framework in Indonesia, ensuring the brand’s technical philosophy can be consistently taught by in-market trainers.
The first public launch followed on 11 November at Irwan Team Hairdesign in Pondok Indah Mall, where KOL guests observed a live demonstration by Zhang using the ghd Chronos. The brand’s flagship styler features HD motion-responsive technology, enabling heat to adapt in real time to the stylist’s movements for a smoother, shinier and longer-lasting finish.

Across the tour, Zhang also introduced two new additions to the Chronos family: the Chronos Curve Grand Tong and the Chronos Max. The 32 mm Curve Grand Tong is designed to create soft, voluminous waves supported by ultra-zone predictive technology that maintains a consistent 185°C temperature. The Chronos Max, equipped with wider plates and enhanced HD motion-responsive technology, targets long or thick hair types, enabling faster styling with a single-glide result.
The multi-city education journey continued with masterclasses at Lie Kuang Education and Lie Kuang & Co Hair Atelier in Semarang, Rota Salon in Surabaya, and New Melati Salon in Bali. In each location, stylists explored ghd’s signature techniques - including push down curl, water wave, DNA wave and ribbon curl - before applying them in live sessions with local KOLs.
The series concluded on 17 November in Bali, marking the close of ghd’s first education and launch programme in Indonesia. Reflecting on the reception, Zhang said: “Indonesia has an incredibly talented community of hair professionals. Through these masterclass sessions, I witnessed strong passion to understand ghd technology and how each of our tools can elevate salon styling results to deliver healthy, shiny and consistent outcomes.”
Ricky Mulyadi, CEO of PMI Haircare - the official distributor of ghd in Indonesia - highlighted the brand’s strategic alignment with the country’s premium salon segment. “We are proud to officially introduce ghd in Indonesia’s leading salons. This launch not only sets a new benchmark for professional styling standards in the country but also gives customers direct access to premium tools and technology trusted by professionals around the world.”
ghd tools are now used across the participating salons. Each location has also installed an official retail display, enabling customers to purchase ghd products directly in-salon. The brand is available in over 30 countries and used in more than 250,000 salons worldwide.
