Garuda Indonesia’s long-serving marketing executive, Arsena Permasadhie, has exited the airline after a decade of strategic roles, marking a leadership shift amid the carrier’s renewed growth ambitions and aircraft expansion drive.
Permasadhie, who most recently served as group head of marketing from March 2024 to June 2025, has moved on to take a commissioner role at Aero Globe Indonesia - a Garuda subsidiary specialising in travel management, Hajj and Umrah services, and sales office operations.
His departure comes at a time of flux and forward momentum for the state-owned airline, which is in the midst of fleet expansion and pursuing broader efforts to strengthen its operations and market presence.

Permasadhie’s career at Garuda Indonesia charts a steady rise through the corporate ranks. Since 2015, he held a series of leadership roles spanning sales, corporate strategy, loyalty, partnerships, and marketing. His previous posts include group head of corporate and channel, group head of loyalty and ancillary, and division head of strategic partnership - positions that saw him oversee key transformation projects in customer experience and commercial development.
His new appointment at Aero Globe suggests a continued alignment with the group’s strategic goals, particularly in areas involving downstream travel services.
Meanwhile, the airline itself is preparing for significant expansion. According to the ministry of state-owned enterprises, Garuda’s updated agreement with Boeing will see it purchase 79 aircraft, exceeding its earlier projection of 50 to 75 units.
The move is part of Indonesia’s broader strategy to maintain energy and logistics sovereignty amid shifting global trade dynamics. Minister Erick Thohir affirmed the state’s support for the procurement, citing it as a priority within Indonesia’s economic resilience plan.
In parallel, transportation minister Dudy Purwagandhi also voiced approval of Garuda’s expansion plan, calling it an important step to address the current shortage in domestic air transport capacity.
