Danantara appoints GoTo's ESG architect Tanah Sullivan as global relations director

Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara has appointed Tanah Sullivan as its global relations and partnerships director. Sullivan, best known for her work at GoTo Group where she served as head of sustainability for over four years, has departed the tech behemoth to take on a global-facing position.
The appointment marks a reaffirmation of Danantara’s ambition - not only to diversify capital but to embed sustainability and diplomacy into its investment identity.
Sullivan had been one of GoTo’s most visible champions of ESG. Under her stewardship, the company - formed in 2021 through the merger of Gojek and Tokopedia - oversaw the integration of sustainability metrics into group strategy and operations, navigating the complex terrain of climate commitments, decarbonisation, and corporate governance.

Meanwhile, Danantara, which launched earlier this year with the backing of President Prabowo Subianto, has positioned itself as a strategic investor aiming to accelerate the country’s long-term development. While still in its early innings, the fund has courted international ties and emphasised its role as a catalytic investor.
“The appointment is significant,” said a Jakarta-based investor familiar with both organisations. “Danantara is sending a signal that ESG isn’t just for optics. They’re embedding it into the talent and narrative of the fund.”
For GoTo, Sullivan’s departure comes after a broader leadership reshuffle. The group has seen top-level exits in recent quarters, including director Nila Marita Indreswari and commissioner Garibaldi Thohir, who submitted resignations in April and May 2025, respectively.
How the tech company continues its ESG narrative without its former lead remains to be seen - but this latest move underscores that sustainability talent is becoming more mobile and increasingly strategic, across both public and private sectors in the country.
