CommBank has expanded its football portfolio, signing on as Official Regional Partner for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 and backing one of the largest women’s sporting events to hit Australian shores next year.
The tournament returns to Australia for the first time in 20 years and will feature 12 national teams across Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney from 1–21 March 2026. It will also double as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
The move strengthens CommBank’s position as Australia’s largest backer of football and follows its six-year partnership extension with Football Australia earlier this year. The bank is targeting the 3.4 million Australians connected to participating AFC nations, with the event projected to reach more than eight million domestic viewers and deliver the most attended Women’s Asian Cup in history.
“We’re proud to support the AFC Women’s Asian Cup as it comes to Australia next year. It’s a celebration of the world’s game and a reflection of our nation’s diversity and spirit,” Monique Macleod, CommBank’s group executive for marketing and corporate affairs, said.
“Football is a unifying force and a game for all that brings people together and inspires belief.”
Patrick Murphy, CEO of the AFC, said: “Through partnerships like this one with CommBank, we’re inspiring millions and connecting communities across the region.”
CommBank is also launching its “Doubt Never Did Ball” activation, which will travel to community clubs nationwide to collect messages from young fans for the CommBank Matildas ahead of their opening match against the Philippines in Perth. The bank will also offer more than 500 children the chance to walk players onto the pitch as CommBank Mini Mates.
"It’s great to have CommBank alongside us again as we bring another major tournament to Australia and keep inspiring the next generation of players. Playing on home soil is always special,” Matilda's Sam Kerr said.
