Coca-Cola Australia has struck a three-year partnership with the National Rugby League, marking one of the company’s most significant recent investments in Australian sport.

Under the deal, Coca-Cola becomes the official non-alcoholic ready-to-drink beverage partner of both the NRL Telstra Premiership and NRLW competitions, spanning broadcast, retail and live event activations.

The agreement also extends across marquee assets including State of Origin, Finals Series and national teams, positioning Coca-Cola at the centre of one of Australia’s most commercially valuable sporting properties.

Coca-Cola said the move represents a major brand-building play that taps directly into the scale, loyalty and cultural relevance of rugby league.

“NRL is a huge part of Aussie culture, and it means a lot to our drinkers,” Martyn Ferguson, marketing director at Coca-Cola Australia, said.

“Whether it’s at the game, at the pub or on the couch at home, watching the footy is simply better with an icy cold Coke.”

The partnership will be supported by limited-edition product packaging, national promotional campaigns and retail-led activations, beginning with the launch of Coca-Cola’s permanent 500ml NRL Superfan Edition can.

Fans will also gain access to major prize campaigns tied to State of Origin and the NRL Grand Final, creating an integrated model that blends retail, media and fan engagement.

The NRL also highlights the growing commercial of footy, as brands seek large-scale, engaged audiences.

“Coca-Cola is one of the most recognisable brands in the world, and it’s great to welcome them back to the NRL,” NRL CEO Andrew Abdo, said.

Brand campaigns, fan activations and player partnerships are expected to roll out over the course of the agreement.
