Sentosa Development Corporation (SDC) and Mount Faber Leisure Group (MFLG) have partnered to launch "Peranakan reimagined", a vibrant cultural showcase that blends tradition with contemporary storytelling across Sentosa. Running from 23 May to 31 August 2025, the event celebrates SG60 and the 10th anniversary of the Singapore Cable Car – Sentosa Line.

The multi-sensorial campaign invites visitors to experience Peranakan heritage through immersive installations, projection art, performances, workshops, and curated dining. Key highlights include a 7.2-metre-tall Peranakan-inspired house at 'Lookout Loop', which transforms into a vivid projection canvas at night, and a field of beaded blooms featuring larger-than-life traditional beaded slippers called "kasut manek". The event also revitalises other Sentosa gardens with displays of traditional food, fashion, musical instruments, and cultural artefacts.

To mark the Sentosa Line’s 10th anniversary, cable car cabins have been adorned with Peranakan-inspired designs, offering visitors a moving cultural tribute as they traverse Sentosa’s scenic coastline. Visitors can also enjoy special Sentosa line promotions, including discounted round trips and unlimited rides.

The Sensoryscape cable car station features a special kebaya exhibition celebrating the garment’s UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status, showcasing creations from Singapore designers. Meanwhile, Siloso point station presents interactive installations and workshops focused on traditional Peranakan crafts and cuisine.

Beyond the main installations, Sentosa will host Peranakan-inspired workshops, live music by Peranakan Sayang, and festive markets throughout the period. Sentosa Islander members can redeem cable car tickets with qualifying spending at partner outlets.

We Communications Singapore worked together with the teams to amplify the cultural moment.

“As Singapore’s premier leisure destination, we are proud to present 'Peranakan reimagined' in celebration of SG60. Set against the backdrop of our award-winning, multi-sensorial Sensoryscape, this vibrant and colourful showcase promises to captivate the senses and elevate every visitor’s experience,” said Thien Kwee Eng, CEO of Sentosa Development Corporation.

“The 10th anniversary of the Singapore Cable Car’s Sentosa line marks a decade of sun, sand and scenic rides and it is our pleasure to be celebrating this key milestone alongside Sentosa Development Corporation through our very first thematic showcase on the Sentosa line,” said Buhdy Bok, managing director at Mount Faber Leisure Group.

“We are truly honoured to collaborate with The Intan to pay homage to Singapore’s unique Peranakan heritage," Bok added.

The "Peranakan reimagined" showcase at Sentosa aligns with a broader national initiative to celebrate and revitalise Peranakan heritage, coinciding with significant cultural events in Singapore.

One notable event is the Singapore HeritageFest 2025, held from 1 to 25 May, which features a month-long celebration of Peranakan culture. Activities include interactive gallery trails, community music jukeboxes, and workshops at the Peranakan Museum, all aimed at engaging the public with the rich traditions of the Peranakan community
