Brisbane today unveiled the first major brand step towards Australia’s next home Olympics, revealing its official Games Vision: Believe. Belong. Become. Brisbane 2032.
The statement follows the largest consultation program Brisbane 2032 has run to date, with more than 6,000 Australians contributing ideas, including almost 3,000 Queenslanders from communities across the state. Voices from regional towns, major cities and even international respondents helped shape the final direction.
The Games Vision will act as the organising committee’s north star, guiding planning and delivery across the Olympic and Paralympic Games and shaping legacy decisions long after the opening ceremony. The announcement was made at a launch event in Brisbane, with more than a dozen councils tuning in to reflect the broader ambition for Brisbane 2032 to be a Games shared across the entire state.
Brisbane 2032 president Andrew Liveris said the vision captures the spirit Queenslanders brought to the consultation process.
“Our Games Vision carries significant symbolism, with each word acting as our north star toward the delivery of our Games in 2032 and an exciting era beyond,” he said.
“I want to thank communities across Queensland and Australia for their input into a Games Vision that typifies who we are. When our time arrives on the world stage, our belief, grit and spirit will shine through. Our sense of belonging will be celebrated and shared. And we will rise to become an even greater city, state and nation to visit, invest in and be part of, thanks to the gift of the Games.”
Australian Olympic Committee president Ian Chesterman said the three-word statement will resonate with athletes working towards 2032.
“Every athlete must believe they are ready to take on the best in the world,” he said. “When they make the Australian Olympic Team, they truly belong to something revered. And each will also become an Olympian for the rest of their lives.”
The organising committee said the Games Vision will now anchor program design, community engagement, investment decisions and long-term legacy planning, echoing the approach taken by previous host cities such as London, Rio, Paris and Los Angeles.
Brisbane 2032 enters its next phase with the vision acting as the central idea for Games delivery and the future identity of Australia’s next Olympic moment.
