AFA Group has appointed Zuan Azmi (pictured) as its head of corporate communications, as part of the group’s broader efforts to strengthen its brand positioning and stakeholder engagement.
In the role, Zuan will provide strategic oversight across corporate communications, media engagement and digital presence, with the aim of enhancing AFA Group’s reputation, visibility and stakeholder trust. The appointment signals the Group’s intent to align its communications frameworks more closely with business priorities, regulatory expectations and community interests.
In his role, Zuan will oversee the full spectrum of the Group’s communications strategy. His responsibilities include strengthening brand positioning and message consistency across subsidiaries, building and maintaining relationships with media, regulators and government agencies, and establishing crisis and issues management protocols to safeguard corporate reputation.

The role also encompasses governance of digital and social media strategy, as well as internal communications efforts designed to enhance transparency and employee engagement across the organisation.
The appointment comes as AFA Group seeks to strengthen leadership visibility and position itself as a forward-looking infrastructure player with a clear and cohesive corporate voice.
Prior to joining AFA Group, Zuan lead PR and media at technology solutions provider Tronic Asia Group and managed strategic communications for the second Finance Minister and Unit Pantau MADANI under the Government of Malaysia.
Other roles he has held include senior manager of strategic communications at MyCreative Ventures and deputy director of strategic communications at the Malaysian Rubber Council. Zuan has also taken on leadership positions across several media and communications organisations, including editor-in-chief at Pendapat Malaysia, director at DML Network, and assistant head of content and entertainment and lifestyle editor at Wacana Seni. He began his career as a broadcast journalist at TV3.
Speaking exclusively on the appointment, Zuan described the move as more than a career milestone: "I don’t just see this as a career move; it’s a mission. For 20 years, I’ve been on the front lines of media and high-level government strategy, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that infrastructure is the pulse of a nation."
Emphasising transformation as a key focus, Zuan added that the goal is to rebrand AFA Group from the ground up, evolving its narrative into one that commands respect on both national and international stages.
“At AFA Group, we are not just rebranding an organisation; we are redefining how we connect with the people. My goal is to strip away the old corporate filters and build a narrative that is authentic, transparent and globally competitive. We are here to build a legacy that matters to every Malaysian. We are just getting started,” said Zuan.
In related news, UEM Edgenta has appointed Budi Citawan W Hanafi as its new head of corporate communications. She takes over the helm of group communications from Wan Laila Fatihah Wan Omar Sukri, who has moved on to AEON Credit Service after two and a half years with UEM Edgenta.
Budi Citawan joins UEM Edgenta after a two-year stint at the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), where she first served as director of international affairs in 2024 before pivoting to director of communications and industry relations in 2025.
