Telehealth app RapiDr claps back at MaNaDr Clinic suspension with cheeky ad

Local telemedicine company RapiDr has launched a cheeky ad saying that it does not do one-second-long consultations, a direct hit at a recent teleconsultation clinic that was suspended for issuing multiple medical certificates (MCs) to some patients.

In its ad, which was posted on Instagram Stories, it advertised its consultations which start from SG$6.90 and said that it does not do one second consultations with its MOH license number below.

Earlier this month, the Ministry of Health (MOH) suspended MaNaDr Clinic's teleconsultation services after investigations revealed that its services likely involved clinically and ethically inappropriate practices.

It found that there were a large number of patients who had undergone very short teleconsultations, and cases of multiple MCs issued over a short period to the same patients.

"A very large number of cases seen by MaNaDr Clinic involved very short teleconsultations," MOH said in a statement. "For example, in a sampled month, more than 100,000 teleconsultations involved video calls with patients of one minute or less in duration, with the shortest being one second."

The ad by RapiDr was a direct clap back at this suspension.

RapiDr is not the only one engaging in cheeky ads as of late. Recently, accross the boarder, coffee brand Bask Bear Coffee put up a cheeky OOH ad featuring their own burgers above a McDonald's outlet in Malaysia and calling them "better".

The OOH ad features the brand's beef burger on a white background and a text that reads "Bask Bear's burgers are better".

The quote is attributed to a Bask Bear customer named Ronald. Coincidentally, Ronald is the name of the McDonald's mascot.
