IPG Mediabrands appoints James Hawkins in newly created role

IPG Mediabrands has appointed James Hawkins in the newly created role of chief client officer

In a statement to MARKETING-INTERACTIVE, Leigh Terry, CEO, IPG Mediabrands APAC said: "IPG Mediabrands remain focused on delivering innovative and exceptional client experiences in a rapidly evolving media landscape. We are excited to deploy Hawkins’ in-depth knowledge and transformative experience across the Asia-Pacific region.”

Hawkins (pictured) is an industry leader with two decades of experience across both media and creative agencies. Most recently, he was the CEO of PHD Asia Pacific where he helmed the role for six years. At PHD Asia Pacific, Hawkins was tasked with channeling the agency's upward momentum in the region and taking the agency's future-facing offering to the next level, he told MARKETING-INTERACTIVE in April last year.

Prior to that, Hawkins held senior positions across dentsu's network including managing director of Asia Pacific at dentsu X, chief digital officer at Dentsu Media and president, dentsu, digital capabilities at Dentsu Aegis Network Asia Pacific.  Hawkins was also a CEO and managing director at DM2. 

MARKETING-INTERACTIVE has reached out to Hawkins for a statement. 

Meanwhile, in Malaysia, IPG Mediabrands elevated Darren Yuen to the role of CEO IPG Mediabrands Malaysia in December 2024.  Yuen is an industry leader with 27 years media experience, including eight years within the IPG Mediabrands Malaysia network. He was most recently the CEO of Initiative Malaysia.
