PROMPERÚ, also known as Peruvian Export and Tourism Promotion Commission, the official tourism organisation of South America’s fascinating heritage gem Peru, has appointed BrandStory as its public relations agency for Greater China.
This new collaboration aims to further elevate Peru’s destination profile and strengthen engagement with both media and travel trade sectors across the region, making it a prime destination for rich geographic, cultural, and culinary diversity.
“We are truly honoured to be appointed as the official destination marketing partner of PROMPERÚ in the Greater China region,” said Echo Zhao, general manager of BrandStory China.
“Peru is globally renowned for its cultural heritage and diverse landscape — from the mystical Machupicchu to the vibrant culinary capital of Lima, the country offers an array of captivating travel experiences. Through multi-channel integrated communications, digital marketing and close collaboration with airlines and travel industry partners, we look forward to inspiring more travelers from China to discover and be inspired by this archaeological wonder.”
This appointment comes at a pivotal time, as China’s outbound travel market is experiencing a robust resurgence. According to travel agents, outbound travel bookings by Chinese travellers have grown by 60% year-on-year. A recent report by China Trading Desk forecasts over 155 million international trips by Chinese travelers in 2025, surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
Visa demand is also surging, with individual visa applications increasing by 160%, reflecting strong consumer interest in overseas travel. In 2024, 39,551 travelers arrived in Peru from Mainland China — a 77% increase compared to 2023 — recovering 96% of 2019’s pre-pandemic levels.
With this momentum, the collaboration between PROMPERÚ and BrandStory is set to unlock new opportunities to showcase Peru’s unique offerings to Chinese travelers, from awe-inspiring archaeological sites to immersive cultural and culinary experiences.
